Spring Growth
Winter's over and our Wollemia starts growing. A few weeks ago the resine caps got brittle; now their are completely disintegrated. Our tree now releases new or elongated branches in a wonderful fresh green tone.
Growing Branches.
At the end of August, branches are developing well.
1st polar cap.
At the end of July, our Wollemi Pine made its 1st polar cap.
Resin protects the growing tips. Right: a hardened branch.
Getting greener.
Six weeks after purchase, branches are getting darker. This picture was taken after repotting (mineral-rich soil with good drainage).
Unfolding.
After a week, the branches are relaxing and appear less crinkled.
First Pictures
First day photos: The Wollemia in a total view. Not yet a beauty, but full with fresh green branches.
Detail view of the stem. The "cocolate crist" bark so typical for older Wollemi Pines isn't yet developed. The whole tree is rather flexible.
Detail of the tree's tip. The younger "needles" are bright green and very soft. Older ones are dark green and slightly harder.
