Overwintering
(We're presuming that you're living in a cold or moderate vegetation zone.) The fact that we're dealing with indoor plants here and that it's cosy in your rooms all winter long reduces the temperature effects of the cold season. But there's the need for light, especially if your plants aren't hardy. Here are some tips you might consider:
Your ferns need plenty of light. Their summer residence in your home may get too dark during winter. Check the brightness with a lux meter. If it's is below 200 lx it's too dark. Give them a well-lit place as described here and they'll get enough light.
Moisture in winter is always a problem. Since most rooms are well heated there is a risk of low humidity. You may help your plants by grouping them together far away from the next heater and by spraying them gently with water. Too much moisture in cold rooms will quickly result in mold growth, so keep them at approx. 16°C +.
You should control the humimdity of the potting mix once a day. In heated rooms they will lose more water than in the summer. Don't let the soil dry out.
